Yacht Sailing

yacht was introduced to England in 1867. From England, it spread to Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
It was an Olympic sport in 1904 at St. Louis and in 1908 at London. Only three countries, Canada, England, and the United States, were represented and Canada won both gold medals.
yacht was a demonstration sport at the Olympics in 1928, 1932, and 1948, and an exhibition tournament was held at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1980.

The motive force being the wind, sailing is more economical and environmentally friendly than any other means of propulsion. They often have twin-keels or lifting keels. They are almost all equipped with one mast. A course generally involves tacking upwind to a 'windward' marker or buoy. However, most favour a teardrop-planform hull, with a wide, flat bottom and deep single-fin keel to give good stability.
