Yacht Sailing

yacht was introduced to England in 1867. From England, it spread to Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

It was an Olympic sport in 1904 at St. Louis and in 1908 at London. Only three countries, Canada, England, and the United States, were represented and Canada won both gold medals.

yacht was a demonstration sport at the Olympics in 1928, 1932, and 1948, and an exhibition tournament was held at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1980.

Day sailing yachts do not have a cabin as they are designed for hourly or daily use and not for overnight journeys. Depending on the type of race, such a yacht may be crewed by as many as 15 people.
